Alphington Park Wetlands

The South Alphington and Fairfield Civic Assiociation (SAFCA) represents all of the people who live, work or own property in Alphington and Fairfield south of Heidelberg Road.  It was formed in 1995 to give local people a voice in the City of Yarra and to represent their views at the community, local government and state levels.

SAFCA stands for the maintenance of a strong sense of communtiy, with a tradition of participation, co-operation and self-help by local people and seeks to build on these strengths.  SAFCA believes that local people must have a say in the provision of gogernment services and facilities and in the planning and develpment of Fairfield and Alphington, its parks, waterways and environs.  It also believes that there must be a balalnce between the interestes of local residents and wider state and national considerations in the development of Fairfield and Alphington.

SAFCA is currently involved in a number of projects including  the Alphington Park Wetlands, the restoration of the Alphington Swimming Pool and the annual Music from the Wetlands Festival.  It is active in monitoring environmental and planning issues affecting Alphington and Fairfield.

SAFCA works closely with the City of Yarra and other organisations such as Greening Australia (Victoria).

Membership of SAFCA is free.  For more information contact us via the link above.
